As the rush of spring hits I find myself saying over and over “I need to blog, I need to blog, I need to blog”. Blogging is one of the first things that take a back seat in my business.  Between soccer practice(s), emails (I know some of you are waiting and I promise to email you back this week-end), sessions, taxes (UGH), editing,  booking, cleaning my house (yuck), and all the things going on day to day it is just hard for me to catch up.  When I do blog it makes me happy to share a little piece of a session.  The session I am sharing now just makes me smile.  Greyson Swann is one now (how did that happen).  I did his newborn and 6 month pictures and every time I see him I am struck by his cuteness and sweet personality. He was a mover at 12 months so I did have to run a little but my favorites are always the running pictures lol!   We did his session at the Defeated campground where his family was camping.  It wasn’t warm but we made it work.  I grew up about 5 miles from this little piece of heaven.  The lake, hills, and land is just so pretty and I have so many wonderful memories there riding my bike, football picnics, swimming at the lake, falling out of the back of trucks during a wicked water balloon fight (it’s a wonder I lived through that).  It just gives me a sense of peace to shoot there and makes me happy.  If I didn’t live an hour away, I would shoot every session there-its beautiful.  If you haven’t been, you need to go.

Here is Greyson as his mommy and daddy.  Melanie, I know you love pictures as much as me and I hope you cherish these always.  Thanks for including me in Greyson’s first year, it has been a pleasure.  I hope you love them as much as I loved taking them!

Love, Wendy

Happy Friday!

I MIGHT be procrastinating cleaning my house for my Maddox’s birthday party tomorrow–so blogging sounded like a great idea!

Krista is from my hometown but moved to Nebraska after college.  She emailed me not long ago and said she was going to be in town and wanted me to photograph her family while she was here.  This is always the highest flattery I tell ya!  Well, the day came along and wouldn’t you know it-it was FREEZING and the wind was CRAZY!  Normally I would re-schedule but when someone is traveling you gotta do it when you can!  We shot for a few minutes in a field, sat in the car, used a building to block the wind, then saw that the inside of the building was open and went inside.  If you know me, you know I am not a fan of studio light-I have it, know how to use it, but it doesn’t have that “natural” feel I love so much.  I love shadows, depth, and love the challenge of using light available. Luckily this room had the most amazing light coming through the window and the sun was in just the right spot.  Here is the preview of Krista’s family (as they drive back to Nebraska today).

Krista-it means so much that you wanted me to photograph your family while you were here for such a short time.  You have 2 beautiful children and Josh is such a sweet and thoughtful husband.  I am so happy for you!

I hope you love your images as much as I loved taking them!

Love, Wendy

I can’t tell you how glad I am to be outside for some  of my sessions lately.  The studio has been wonderful but outside is my thing.  I will continue to use the studio for newborns for now-all other sessions will be done outside.

The West Family~

If you  have ever wandered what type of session makes “ME” the photographer happy, the one I am blogging would be it.  My favorite type of session is all about the family in beautiful afternoon light. I LOVE capturing the connection families have surrounded by a simple back drop and bathed in beautiful light-it’s my favorite for sure!

The West family met me Friday afternoon.  The weather was perfect and the sunset was fantastic.

Here is a sneak peak of their session, I hope you see what a great afternoon we had!

Thanks  so much Amber, I hope you love the pictures as much as I loved taking them.

Love, Wendy

Sweet Abigail is 8 months old.  I did her newborn and 4 month sessions and I have to say 8 month is always one of my faves. At 8 months they can sit, babble, they think I am funny, and they are interested in the camera.  Its such a sweet age!  We met Monday on a very cloudy but mild day at Gravel Road Traditions in Mt. Juliet.  Here are some of my favorites from our session.

Thanks Jessica for meeting me in Mt. Juliet-Abigail is such a cutie pie and I enjoy watching her grow and change!
