One of my very favorite photographers (Pinkletoes Photography–Houston, Texas) recently wrote on her facebook page “Realizing that the quality of my work VERY MUCH depends on how connected my subjects are with one another. No connection=no bueno. I thrive on their energy and love!” This statement made me think about some of my favorite sessions and how they happen to be the ones where the family’s are so connected its almost as if I am not there. This statement hit home for me.
When Annmarie emailed me last week thanking me for her family pictures and how she loved every one of them, I immediately thought about this statement again. I told her the reason they were so good was their natural love and affection for their baby girl and for each other. It was a connection I just happened to catch.
I know that having your pictures made doesn’t always seem natural. I get that, I promise. Kids are usually turkeys, dads are “usually” not happy about having pictures made, and mom is just praying for ONE GOOD PICTURE which usually pushes her over the edge (LOL)! I want my clients to know I WANT to capture your connection and not to worry about all that. Relax, love on your kids, tickle them, hug them, love on each other. This is when the magic happens behind the camera, it begins with you
Here is The Joyce Family—Annmarie, thanks again for trusting me with your family pictures and I look forward to seeing how much Aynsley has grown in November.

His momma said he was FAST and never looks in the camera. I have found that kids love to prove their parents wrong (LOL). Little buddy gave me tons of great shots. He was very engaging, silly, and just a joy to photograph. He loved sticks (most of the pictures he has a stick in his hand) and my favorite ones are the ones of him toddling along. I love a good high step!
Here is a preview of this little guys session from Saturday afternoon—Patricia, thanks for letting me capture your little guy for you and look forward to seeing you in the fall!
On a side note–this week-end is my newborn workshop in Nebraska. I am so excited about it! I have had a ton of newborns lately and have 2 right after I get back. I am pretty pumped to put what I learn to good use. Wish me luck that I learn a lot!

These girls are “my girls”. Their mom and I have been friends since 1995 when we became friends in college. That’s 17 years people! 2 weddings, 5 kids, several awesome vacations, countless hours preparing food for fraternity boys (we were SAE little sisters together), several tries at various diets which never worked, thousands of dollars at abercrombie and fitch (we were so hot), lots of time dancing, a TERRIBLE try at making our own candles, and too many hours to count on the phone. Its been a great 17 years and I have a ton of priceless memories where Jill is concerned. Even though we don’t live near each other our friendship has remained constant and for that I am thankful.
This is a pretty big blog post simply because I had too many good ones to choose from. Because I am such good friends with this mom, this session was done with my boys in tow —BAD IDEA. My boys fell off a horse, my car battery died, and my oldest was drug by a huge tree swing. There is never a dull moment where our friendship is concerned!
Here are her GORGEOUS girls Addie, Emma, and Molly Ross. I love you girls! You’re all BEAUTIFUL!

Stella Bess~2 years old.
It’s no secret I LOVE her. She is a one of a kind kid. Her vocabulary will BLOW YOU AWAY: She is incredibly happy, funny, outgoing, silly, and eager to please. Every time I photograph her it is an absolute pleasure. This time it was filled with lots of laughs, singing “Hey Good Lookin”, ABCs, 123s, and twirly twirls.
Here are some of my favorites from an absolutely beautiful night last week. The weather has been spoiling me….I know it is bound to get hot sometime!
Hope everyone has a really great week ahead. I will be busy as a little bee and I couldn’t be happier!

Hi, thanks for stopping by!
I have been taking Anne Kate’s pictures for 18 months now. She’s a fast one I tell ya–we did lots of running yesterday but we had a ton of fun doing it and I am ALWAYS so pleased with the shots I get from downtown’s wading pools. I think they are truly magical! I HAVE to take my boys down there this summer!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day! It seems its the week of newborns as 3 of my little ones have been born the last few days. Looks like next week is the week of baby smells and cuddles—YAY!
Katy–thanks so much for always trusting me to take your sweet girl’s pictures. She is so adorable. The last pic I took thinking you might miss those ADORABLE curls one day. Anne Kate is adorable!

Its 10:00 am. I ran, finished laundry, made beds, cooked breakfast, had snuggle time, answered emails, booked fall sessions (don’t wait too long–I am almost booked), had my morning coffee, watched the Royal Diamond Jubilee (how I wish I was a Royal) and now I am blogging. Have I mentioned how much I LOVE summer time?!
Here is a session that got away from me. I try VERY hard to give preview and/or blog posts because I know people love to see them, but somehow this one slipped through my hands. I photographed this family last summer and they are always so sweet and well behaved. I love seeing them and seeing how they have grown.
Thanks for stopping by and taking a look at these adorable kiddos! I have an 18 month session this afternoon and the weather looks beautiful! See you soon!

I didn’t work this weekend and its a good thing because June is going to be CRAZY! I have a ton of sessions coming up and my newborn workshop in Nebraska at the end of the month. I am excited to see new and old clients, its going to be great!
Here is my session with the Gonyea kids. I have known these kiddos for a long time as I worked with their mom for 8 years. These kids are SO GORGEOUS and amazingly sweet. I love seeing them and they grow and change so much each time I see them.
I hope everyone has a great week. I have 6 sessions in the next week so I am sure their will be more blog posts to come in the next few days.
